Effective 12 August 2026, Alberta updated guidance for the Rural Entrepreneur Stream (RES), Graduate Entrepreneur Stream (GES), and Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream (FGES). Alberta’s framing: the updates provide more information about existing economic establishment criteria rather than announcing a new points grid or new capital floors.

• Act now: in-process or pre-submission RES/GES/FGES files whose establishment narrative is generic or thin
• Lower urgency: files already built around concrete Alberta operations, payroll, and residence evidence that match the clarified factors
• Still binding: Table 8 capacity pressure (see Table 8 update)

Clarified criteria do not create new nomination spots. A cleaner establishment story helps file quality; it does not erase a high in-process-to-remaining ratio.
