Effective August 7, 2026 at 10:08:20 UTC, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) ran Express Entry round #434 under the category Transport Occupations, 2026-Version 2. The department issued 300 invitations to apply (ITAs) with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off of 470. The rank needed was 300 or above. The tie-breaking rule was October 11, 2025 at 14:55:49 UTC.

What the numbers show

Round #434 is a category-based selection round, not a general or program-specific draw. It sits inside a dense August window:

• August 4, PNP-only, 507 ITAs, CRS 768 (#431)
• August 5, Canadian Experience Class, 3,000 ITAs, CRS 516 (#432)
• August 6, French-language proficiency, 5,000 ITAs, CRS 391 (#433)
• August 7, Transport Occupations, 300 ITAs, CRS 470 (#434)

Four rounds in four calendar days is an unusually tight sequence. For business immigration files, the pattern matters more than any single cut-off: IRCC is still running category and program lanes in parallel while provincial entrepreneur capacity stays tight.

Pool snapshot as of August 3, 2026 (published with the rounds page): total 229,100 profiles. Band 501-600 held 19,705 candidates; 451-500 held 73,099. A CRS 470 Transport cut sits inside a crowded mid-band, which is why category eligibility (not only raw CRS) decides who clears this lane.

Business immigration angle

Transport category rounds do not replace entrepreneur pathways. They do change the timing conversation for founders and executives who already hold Canadian work authorization and are building toward permanent residence.

In GenesisLink’s file work, transport-adjacent operators (logistics, fleet services, specialized equipment, supply-chain software with Canadian delivery footprints) often sit in one of three documentation stacks:

• C11 / significant benefit, Canadian public benefit and founder indispensability must stay current if the PR strategy assumes continued Canadian operations while a spouse or key hire enters Express Entry.
• ICT (C61/C62/C63), qualifying relationship and Canadian entity viability still govern the work permit; EE category membership is a parallel track, not a substitute for corporate evidence.
• PNP entrepreneur / nomination-led files, nomination capacity (for example AAIP entrepreneur Table 8 pressure and BC PNP Base floors) remains the binding gate for many entrepreneur-to-PR plans, independent of today’s Transport CRS.

What our files show

Across 300+ business immigration files from 30+ countries, we repeatedly see teams treat category EE rounds as a reason to pause business-plan updates. The opposite is usually smarter. When IRCC is inviting in occupational categories in the same week as PNP and CEC rounds, officers and provincial programs still assess the business narrative on its own terms: job creation credibility, market evidence, role design, and consistency between the work permit story and the PR timeline.

In recent dual-track screens, nine of fourteen entrepreneur-to-PR files we reviewed were already nomination-led. For those files, a Transport category CRS of 470 is useful context for household CRS planning, not a reason to rewrite the provincial business case overnight. Where a key hire or co-founder may be Transport-eligible, the actionable step is a 25-day pathway memo: confirm NOC alignment to the Transport category list, freeze CRS assumptions, and re-check whether C11/ICT evidence still supports the Canadian operating plan through the ITA-to-landing window.

Practical checklist for practitioners

1. Confirm category membership against IRCC’s current Transport Occupations list for 2026-Version 2 before advising any client that they “would have been invited.”
2. Separate lanes, keep entrepreneur PNP capital, job, and community evidence on its own calendar; do not collapse it into EE category commentary.
3. Work permit continuity, for C11 and ICT holders, map permit expiry against a 60-day ITA response window and federal PR processing, not against draw headlines alone.
4. Household CRS hygiene, update language tests, arranged employment points, and provincial nomination points only with primary documents; category rounds reward clean profiles more than optimistic spreadsheets.
5. Capacity watch, continue monitoring provincial entrepreneur gates (BC PNP Entrepreneur Base last confirmed July 28, 2026 at score 117 / 10 ITAs; AAIP Table 8 last confirmed July 30, 2026 at 60 allocation / 30 issued / 30 remaining / 228 in process).
