August 4, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued the first Express Entry round of August: a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-specific draw of 507 invitations to apply (ITAs) at a lowest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 768. The round ran at 10:39:04 UTC, with a tie-breaking rule of May 15, 2026 at 15:58:19 UTC.

What the numbers show

Compared with the prior PNP-focused round on July 20, 2026 (511 ITAs, CRS 744), today's volume is almost identical while the cut-off sits 24 points higher. That pattern is consistent with a pool where provincial nominations continue to clear through Express Entry on a roughly biweekly cadence, while base CRS without a nomination remains far below the 600-plus band that PNP nominees occupy after the 600-point nomination boost.

Why this matters for business immigration files

For RCICs and counsel managing entrepreneur and owner-operator pathways, a PNP Express Entry draw is not a substitute for a provincial entrepreneur invitation. It is the federal clearing step for candidates who already hold a provincial nomination, including those who completed entrepreneur performance agreements and received nomination after Stage 2 establishment.

What our files show: across dual-track screens we have run since 2024, the practical sequence for many founder clients is still provincial entrepreneur (or a federal temporary pathway such as C11 or ICT) first, nomination second, then Express Entry ITA. A 507-ITA PNP round confirms that once nomination is in the profile, federal invitation volume remains available in early August. It does not reopen entrepreneur EOI pools or change AAIP Table 8 capacity, BC PNP Base scores, or OINP entrepreneur timing.

Context practitioners should hold together

• BC PNP Entrepreneur: Last confirmed Base draw on the WelcomeBC ITA page remains July 28, 2026 (10 ITAs, minimum score 117).
• AAIP Entrepreneur (Table 8): Latest published processing snapshot remains 90 allocation / 30 issued / 60 remaining / 228 in process (~3.8:1), already covered in our August capacity watch.
• Prior Express Entry activity: Last non-PNP federal round on the IRCC page before today was the July 23, 2026 Skilled Military category-based round (4 ITAs, CRS 368).

Pool distribution as of August 3 shows 19,705 candidates in the 501-600 band and only 500 above 600. PNP nominees sit in that upper band; most C11 and ICT holders building toward CEC or other economic PR still compete well below today's 768 cut-off unless they secure a nomination or category selection.

What to do on active files this week

1. Nomination-ready entrepreneur files: Confirm Express Entry profiles are complete and accurate within 30 days of nomination where required, and that work history, language, and settlement funds match the business plan narrative used at the province.
2. Stage 2 / performance agreement files: Align job-creation evidence and financial actuals with what will later support the federal PR application, officers read both layers.
3. C11 / ICT bridge clients: Use the draw as a calendar signal, not a CRS target. Temporary status, significant-benefit documentation, and qualifying-relationship evidence remain the binding gates until a nomination or category invitation is realistic.
4. Dual-province screens: Capacity pressure (AAIP ratio, BC Base floor) still decides province selection before federal draw size does.
